Cincinnati Arts and Technology Center becomes Cincinnati Arts & Technology Studios
Published: August 1, 2017New name, new look, reflects evolved mission. The Cincinnati Arts and Technology Center (CATC) announced that it is now Cincinnati Arts and Technology Studios (CATS). The name change is supported by evolved branding that reflects the organization’s proven success in helping at-risk high school students stay in school, graduate and launch successful careers and lives.
“We’re heading into our 15th year serving the Cincinnati community,” said CATS CEO Clara Martin. “We’ve learned so much about how to lift Cincinnati’s young people and their future families out of poverty, with all of its associated dangers and costs to themselves and the community. It was time to take a fresh look at how we represent our story.”
The branding update includes the name change, a new tag line, and a new visual identity. The change to ‘studios’ conveys that the core programming at CATS involves the arts–using their proven power to transform the lives of at-risk teens.
The new tagline “Unlock, Equip, Nurture,” serves as the newly evolved mission as well as a summary of how the non-profit organization has successfully given more than 4000 young people the chance to become successful, productive citizens:
* To Unlock the self-worth and potential of at risk teens through the transformative power of art, a first class environment and a character building culture
* To Equip students with the skills, credentials and pathways to employment
* To Nurture students through high school and into sustainable success.
The new logo introduces a multi-faceted logotype that aligns with our mission to surround students with resources that unlock their potential, equip them with skills and nurture them into sustainable success.
“We are who we’ve always been in terms of our mission to save young lives and thereby help keep our community strong and vibrant,” said Martin. “But over nearly 15 years we’ve evolved, added more services and become even more successful in ensuring not only that our students graduate, but that they are connected to higher education and career opportunities that keep them on the path to sustainable success. Now our branding has caught up to who we are today.”
About the Cincinnati Arts & Technology Studios
The Cincinnati Arts &Technology Studios (CATS) is a non-profit agency that helps at-risk Cincinnati Public Schools students stay in school, graduate, launch careers and successful lives. Most of our students are high school juniors, seniors and over-age underclassmen who lack sufficient credits to graduate. We use a combination of the transformative power of the arts, a first-class environment, and a character-building culture to unlock the self-worth and potential of at-risk teens. On average, 93% of our eligible seniors graduate, 50% apply to college, and dozens have started successful careers through Bridging the Gap, the CATS workforce development program established in its current form in 2010. CATS is patterned after the highly successful Manchester Bidwell Training Center in Pittsburgh, and is a model for national replication of programs that use the arts to help teens succeed.
